Hooked On Me...

on MeTV that is which stands for memorable entertainment television.

We got this new channel several months ago but its been around a few years in localized areas and started in Chicago. I love it. It broadcasts televisions shows from the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's. MeTV has introduced me to several shows that I never had watched, one being The Rifleman starring Chuck Connors. I'm not one for western type shows but he was one good lookin' guy with those long legs in tight pants and that square jaw...
but stop, I'm getting carried away here.

Then there's Svengoolie on Saturday night. He's a comedian who hosts very old B horror movies. He has his shtick, I can't describe it so check him out here.

In the evening Hubby and I have been watching The Twilight Zone at 11:00. I never realized how many then young, now well known actors were on it; Jack Klugman, Bergess Meredith, William Shatner, Lee Marvin, Cliff Robertson, Dick York (Darren on Bewitched), Werner Klemperer (Col. Klink on Hogan's Heros), Martin Landeau and many more. Each night it's fun to see what famous actor we can pick out. I liked Rod Serling, the creator of The Twilight Zone and later Night Gallery. Too bad he died so young at age 50 right here in Rochester, NY.

Each night after The Twilight Zone is Perry Mason. I remember my grandparents watching this show in syndication each night at around dinner time. They'd be so proud. It's not LA Law but it's not bad.

There are many shows I loved as a kid; Petticoat Junction, My Three Sons, Love American Style, Bob Newhart with Suzanne Pleshette, The Mary Tyler Moore Show, The Rockford Files and more but my most favorite ever that I've always wished would go into syndication is.....

That Girl

Oh how I loved Ann Marie. I wanted to be just like her. I was only 8 years old when it first aired in 1966 and ran through 1970.
I thought she was so beautiful (although she did have a nose job) with those big wide eyes and brilliant smile. I wanted her hair.
She was so innocent yet very independent. I liked how she lived in New York City by herself and worked all those crazy jobs to support herself between acting jobs which were always some wacky role. I loved when she said, "Oh Donald" or "Oh Daddy" in that squeaky voice.
Today I don't think Marlo Thomas looks much like Ann Marie any more but then again she's no spring chicken at age 75. Her beautiful smile has been altered with fake teeth. I don't understand why actors/actresses do that. Everyone looks the same with those straight even teeth.

I guess I'm showing my age enjoying all of these shows from the past plus the commercials don't help. Constant commercials pitching reverse mortgages for senior citizens, commercials for life insurance that go on for 2 minutes with people gossiping about the deceased and how they left their family in a lurch with burial costs. Once in a while they will show a classic commercial from that era which is interesting.

Check out MeTV for a walk down memory lane. Too bad I don't get any $$ for singing their praises.
