I've never responded to a comment left on my blog actually on the blog but there's a first time for everything. Regarding my last post about Adam Lambert and his "coming out". To bring you up to speed read the comments left.

Ok, all done?

I'm not a religious person. I don't go to church. I'm certainly not a scholar of the bible. I live my life as a kind, giving woman who knows right from wrong and how to treat people regardless of their ethnicity or sexuality. I don't judge people based on that criteria.

Religion does have a place in people's lives, I don't deny that. It gives them comfort and something to believe in. If my plane is spiraling down to the ground maybe then I'll find God but that plays no part in my life at the moment. Should you think any different of me? You can if you want but don't preach to me about it. It's my choice.
So countless wars have been and still are being fought over religion because one side or another thinks that everyone should believe in their perception of God. If you don't then you should be terrorized. That isn't right or very religious. I highly doubt your God, whomever it may be wants you to kill in his name. That goes for people that kill doctors that perform abortions. But these issues are a whole 'nother story.
People in this country have rights and I hardly think that they should be discriminated against by religious groups. Who gives them the right or authority or audacity to do so.Our first settlers came here to escape religious persecution. Since the beginning of time there have been homosexuals, this isn't a new thing, it's just becoming more main stream. Because you don't agree with it that makes it wrong? In case you're wondering I believe that people are hard wired to be gay, it's something in the brain. I do not think that 99% of the people choose to be gay. Being gay isn't something contagious, no one can force you.
Of course people don't want to live in Sodom and Gomorrah but to me S & G means drugs, murder, riots etc. not the fact that you may love a person of the same sex. I see more straight people making a spectacle of themselves with their PDAs than gay and lesbian. In NYS there is complete separation between church and the public school system. They certainly don't teach about homosexuality. I'm not sure what they teach out in California that would cause one to pull their children out of public schools but prove it to me if it's the teaching of homosexuality.
And per the usual, everyone is entitled to their opinions, the difference being when it's carried to the extreme or when it envolves discrimination.

The story will always be about Adam and Eve, not about Adam and Steve.

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah has nothing to do with murder, robbery, theft, or any other crime. It is interesting that the word sodomy was derived from the lead city Sodom and is a metaphor for sexual deviation.

I go by what is says in the good book period; and it says in Leviticus 20:13, "if a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination..."

That to me is as cut and dry as it gets. I believe that it is not discrimination to believe that God's natural order is the joining of a man and a woman, and that is why I helped put Proposition 8 into law. Prior to the passing of Prop 8, some schools were teaching about the issue in a supplemental curriculum in some parts of the state. I moved my children out of public school some time ago because I want to have control over what they are taught and not what the school believes is politically correct....

Summer, I have to agree with you.

Also in the Bible, Luke 6:37, it states:

Judge not, and you shall not be judged: condemn not, and you shall not be condemned: forgive, and you shall be forgiven.

Its not judgement-prop 8 merely upholds what was written in truth in the good word. So, S, you can quote all you want, and it doesn't change Leviticus 20:13, nor does it change the following:

1:24 Therefore God gave them over in the desires of their hearts to impurity, to dishonor their bodies among themselves. 25 They exchanged the truth of God for a lie and worshiped and served the creation rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen. 26 For this reason God gave them over to dishonorable passions. For their women exchanged the natural sexual relations for unnatural ones, 27 and likewise the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed in their passions for one another. Men committed shameless acts with men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.

Prop 8 upheld in the courts states that marriage is a lawful union between a man and woman ONLY. DO you have a scripture S, that contradicts that? Let me know when you find it.....

Oh, brother!

Homosexuals proselytize far far less than bible-thumping Christians. In MY BOOK one should have a charitable heart and strive to do no harm to others. MY BOOK isn't that tome cobbled together hundreds of years ago by a bunch of powerful men, from a mishmash of folklore, full of contradictions.

Do I consider myself a Christian? In the true spirit of Christianity, YES I do. Do I suck at the teat of the 'Bible' with all its man-induced flaws and contradictions. Nope.

"The story will always be about Adam and Eve." You are right! Because it's just a story!!!

There are lots of interesting 'stories' in the 'Bible'. Stories of incest, child murder (in the name of God), polygamy, rape, wrath, war, and lots and lots of suffering, much of it (supposedly) undertaken at the direction of 'God'.

These 'stories' do not embody the loving God that I feel in the world. These stories reflect the bitterness and imperfection of men.

Gman, if you studied that book closely, you would see how it contradicts itself time and again. How can it be 'the word of God' with contradictions in it. The "Bible" is merely a collection of stories, an imperfect work of men. Therefore Leviticus is meaningless in a spiritual sense. (If Leviticus were truly the word of 'God', Bible thumpers wouldn't be allowed to eat shrimp.)

Kitten Herder, the only thing that is lost and contradicting is you. I have read the good book from cover to cover many times, and it seems to me the only ones suffering are the ones doing all the sinning and deciding that it is ok to live that way. Refusing to repent and do away with sin is ones choice, but it has consequences.

You may be lost and consider Adam and Eve just a story and quite frankly that's your problem. To me and millions of others its the truth and we will continue to believe that despite living in a country that has lost its moral values and believes that you can condone any lifestyle under the banner of freedom.

Homosexuality must be accepted for what God says it is-- sin. Some homosexuals will attempt to circumvent the plain teaching of the Bible with the insipid reply that they are the way God made them. There is not the slightest bit of evidence in Scripture to support this false concept. God never created man with a so-called "homosexual need." No baby is born a homosexual. Every baby is born male or female. In every place the Bible refers to homosexuality, the emphasis is upon the perversion of sexuality. The practicing homosexual is guilty of "leaving the natural use of the woman" (Romans 1:27), meaning that his behaviour is "against nature" as in the case of the lesbian (Romans 1:26). Inasmuch as homosexuality is opposed to the regular law and order of nature, the genetic concept must be ruled out completely. If homosexuality were a genetic problem, there would be little hope for the homosexual simply because there is no way that the genes in a person can be changed.

I see that with all the quoting of scripture and the insulting of other commenters you are of the mindset that all should follow your beliefs. Yours are the only right ones. I sincerly hope that no one close to you ever turns out to be gay.

"The philosophy of substituting God's Word with one's own reasoning commenced with Satan. He introduced it at the outset of the human race by suggesting to Eve that she ignore God's orders, assuring her that in so doing she would become like God with the power to discern good and evil (Genesis 3:1-5). That was Satan's big lie. Paul said that when any person rejects God's truth, his mind becomes "reprobate," meaning perverted, void of sound judgment. The perverted mind, having rejected God's truth, is not capable of discerning good and evil."

@Gman, so now because I follow my own reasonings, which are very Christian, I'm in cahoots with Satan. I've heard it all now. This is the kind of piousness that I cannot deal with, the holier than thou attitude turns me right off. Today I'll be spending at least an hour in a Catholic church for a funeral, I hope the good Lord isn't in a smoting mood,I'm sure you recall how He did that to all first born males that weren't sons of Isreal. After all since I've been told I'm a follower and pal of Satan should I be worried? I can assure you that I live my life quite well without following the exact words of God. I've never said I don't believe in a supreme being but with my own moral code I can't follow the bible as written

@S I totally agree with Luke 6:37

@Kitten Right on, we're on the same page. Meet you in hell I guess.

There are cases on record where a marriage license was issued to persons of the same sex. I recall one such incident in Phoenix, Arizona. A marriage license was issued in the Maricopa County clerk's office to two men 39 and 21 years old respectively. The two men are reported to have "married" in a private ceremony.

However, to call a union of two persons of the same sex a "marriage" is a misnomer. In the Bible, marriage is a divinely ordered institution designed to form a permanent union between one man and one woman for one purpose (among others) of procreating or propagating the human race. That was God's order in the first of such unions (Genesis 1:27, 28; 2:24; Matthew 19:5). If, in His original creation of humans, God had created two persons of the same sex, there would not be a human race in existence today. The whole idea of two persons of the same sex marrying is absurd, unsound, ridiculously unreasonable, stupid. A clergyman might bless a homosexual marriage but God won't.

I never should have started this debate and did not mean to offend anyone. I am passionate of my beliefs and at times it gets the best of me. To avoid any further confrontation, you will not see me on this blog again...

@Gman; There's nothing wrong with debates at all. That's one of the things I love about reading blogs, you can comment on others thoughts. The difference being once you start calling people out and comparing them to Satan things get a little sticky. When thoughts are put in writing rather than spoken it's hard to "hear" the tone in which they're said but sometimes the distain comes through loud and clear. It's back to the age old argument here, believe as I do or you're less than I. I just don't buy that, we are all one race, the human race and each should be able to believe what we want without others proselytizing.

I'm always hearing the message that God loves all and if that's true why all the anomosity among his followers against fellow human beings.

I'm sorry to see that my views have made you decide not to return to my blog.
